IV Sedation and General Anesthesia
Dr. Blumberg utilizes IV Sedation and Deep Conscious Sedation or General Anesthesia. IV Sedation stands for Intravenous Sedation and refers to the use of one or more drugs to relieve anxiety and provide a comfortable state of deep relaxation or light sleep during oral surgical treatment. However, the patient remains conscious and can understand and respond to communication from the doctor and staff although they’ll usually have no memory of the procedure. IV sedation and General Anesthesia are safe and effective when administered by a well-trained doctor and staff. Dr. Blumberg’s office is set up as a free standing surgery center and is fully equipped with all of the latest monitoring and emergency medical equipment including his own backup generator.
Dr. Blumberg is not only a Board certified surgeon, he also did a separate anesthesiology residency and is a Board certified Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is an Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor and also teaches SIM Man Courses to other doctors and their staffs, including his own, which uses high fidelity life-like resuscitation mannequins to recreate actual medical emergencies that can occur while patients are receiving IV sedation or General Anesthesia. All of D. Blumberg’s staff are ACLS trained.
Please ask Dr. Blumberg to discuss all anesthesia options for your procedures at your consultation visit. Your comfort and safety is of the utmost importance to us.
